National Funeral Directors Association Convention 2017 Myrtle Beach
So, I just got back from the National Funeral Directors Association Convention 2017 in Myrtle Beach, and I'm still trying to process everything that happened. I mean, who wouldn't want to spend a few days talking about death and funerals, right? It's not exactly the most uplifting topic, but trust me, it was actually really interesting.
The convention was huge, with thousands of funeral directors and industry professionals all in one place. I saw some pretty crazy things, like a giant inflatable funeral home (yes, you read that right) and a hearse that looked like it belonged in a Fast and Furious movie. I mean, who knew funeral cars could be so cool?
The Convention Floor
The convention floor was like a tombstone-filled wonderland, with all sorts of crazy and amazing things to see. I saw caskets shaped like football fields, guitars, and even a huge Harley Davidson (because, why not?). And let's not forget the giant funeral pyre that looked like it belonged in a Viking movie.

I also saw some really interesting new technology that's changing the funeral industry, like virtual reality experiences that let people "attend" funerals remotely. It's weird to think about, but it's actually kind of cool. And who knows, maybe one day we'll all be attending funerals in our VR headsets?
Famous Keynote Speakers
The convention had some amazing keynote speakers, including a former funeral director who became a stand-up comedian (because, why not?). And let me tell you, he was hilarious, talking about all the crazy things that happen in the funeral industry. I mean, who knew death could be so funny?

I also heard from a well-known expert on death and dying, who talked about the importance of grief and how we should all be talking more about death (because, let's face it, it's going to happen to all of us). It was actually really inspiring, and made me think about how we can all make the most of the time we have.
And then there were the exhibitors, who were all trying to sell their latest and greatest funeral products (because, let's face it, it's a big industry). I saw everything from biodegradable caskets to funeral-themed merchandise (because, why not?). It was all a bit surreal, but also kind of fascinating.

Overall, the convention was a wild ride, full of ups and downs (and a few morbid jokes thrown in for good measure). But despite the somber topic, it was actually a really uplifting experience, and made me think about how we can all make a difference in the world. And who knows, maybe one day I'll even become a funeral director (just kidding, I think I'll stick to writing).
So, that's my take on the National Funeral Directors Association Convention 2017 in Myrtle Beach. It was a blast (pun intended), and I'm so glad I got to experience it. If you ever get the chance to attend, I say go for it - you never know what you might learn (or laugh at).

Closing Thoughts
In the end, it's all about respecting the dead and celebrating life, right? And who knows, maybe one day we'll all be able to laugh and cry together at the absurdity of it all. Until then, I'll just keep on writing and trying to make sense of this crazy world we live in.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings about the convention - I hope you found it entertaining (or at least mildly amusing). And who knows, maybe one day I'll see you at a funeral convention (just kidding, I hope not).
