My Extra Bone By Jen Jenivive

My Extra Bone By Jen Jenivive

Have you ever felt like you're a little extra in life? Like, you're already a functioning human being, but then you throw in an extra talent, hobby, or quirk that makes you stand out from the crowd? For me, that extra something is my extra bone - a tiny, mysterious bone that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I know what you're thinking... what even is an extra bone? Well, let me tell you, it's like having a superpower, but instead of flying or super strength, I get to deal with a rogue bone that likes to cause trouble. It's like having a tiny, bony roommate who refuses to pay rent, but still manages to make a mess and cause chaos wherever it goes.

My Extra Bone: The Uninvited Guest

So, how did I end up with this uninvited guest? I'm not really sure, but I like to think it's because my body was like, "Hey, Jen, you know what would be fun? An extra bone! Yeah, that's a great idea!" And then, BAM! There it was. I've had it since birth, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride ever since.

I've learned to live with it, but it's not always easy. Sometimes it gets in the way, literally. Like when I'm trying to put on a pair of jeans, and my extra bone decides to make an appearance, making it impossible to zip them up. It's like, "Uh, hello? Can you please just chill for one second?" But nope, it just keeps on being its awesome, extra self.

The Struggle is Real

But despite the challenges, I've learned to embrace my extra bone. It's a part of who I am, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Well, maybe I'd trade it for a million dollars, but that's about it. It's like having a funny story to tell, a conversation starter that always leaves people intrigued.

And hey, being extra isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes it's what makes us special, what sets us apart from the crowd. So, if you're feeling like you're a little extra too, just remember, you're not alone. We're all in this together, extra bones and all.

Now, I know some of you might be thinking, "But Jen, how do you deal with the pain?" And let me tell you, it's not always easy. There are days when my extra bone decides to be particularly pesky, and I'm like, "Okay, okay, I get it. You're there. Can you please just chill out?" But I've learned to manage it, to live with it, and to even find the humor in it.

Like the time I went to the doctor, and they were like, "So, Jen, can you tell us about your extra bone?" And I was like, "Well, it's like having a tiny, bony roommate who refuses to pay rent, but still manages to make a mess and cause chaos wherever it goes." They just looked at me, confused, and I was like, "Yeah, that's pretty much it."

So, the next time you're feeling like you're a little too much, just remember, it's okay to be extra. In fact, it's more than okay - it's awesome. So go ahead, own it, and let your extra bone shine. Who knows, it might just be the thing that makes you special.

In the end, it's all about perspective. You can look at your extra bone as a curse, or you can look at it as a blessing. For me, it's the latter. It's a reminder that I'm unique, that I'm me, and that's something to be proud of.

And who knows, maybe one day I'll even start a support group for people with extra bones. We can call it Extra Bone Anonymous, and our motto can be, "Hi, my name is Jen, and I have an extra bone." And then we can all just laugh and commiserate about our extra bones together.

Until then, I'll just keep on being my awesome, extra self. And if you're feeling extra too, just know that you're not alone. We're all in this together, extra bones and all. So let's raise a glass to being extra, and to embracing our unique qualities, extra bones and all.
